It’s been hard to escape the Government’s daily Covid-19 briefings and announcements this week. One in particular that we were not expecting: estate agencies can reopen in England. Here at AB we are happy not to rush into this without careful consideration. The safety of our team, their families, our clients and customers, and the wider community comes first.
The AB Team were all able to work from home during lockdown and this will continue during a phased return to the office. During lockdown we continued to conduct business over the telephone and email as normal. The AB Virtual world of meetings, valuations and video tours received positive feedback and results, so we have no immediate plans to change this even after reopening.
The AB Team have all taken part in a working from home and back to the office consultation and the general consensus is that it is too soon to reopen. We have received such positive feedback from clients and customers that we are confident that working from home is still the best way to stay safe, stay in touch, stay proactive and efficient. With this in mind the earliest the AB offices will reopen is Monday 1st June, with a reduced fixed team rota. Team members will all split their working week between home and the office. This will help achieve social distancing in the offices, lower risk and stay safe.
The offices will be revamped to put social distancing measures in place. The doors will stay locked and visitors will be by appointment only. We will be training the AB Team to handle social distancing, developing new business practices and safety measures for all scenarios. AB Virtual business will continue, reducing the need for non-essential face to face meetings and appointments. Measures will be put in place where properties are to be visited. We will continue to carry out due diligence checks in advance for all those we may meet like applicants, landlords, tenants, buyers, vendors, residents, contractors, freeholders, and lessees. PPE will be available to the team where appropriate. All this will be done in accordance with the current Government guidance published on the 11th May and 13th May 2020, and any updated guidance.
People still need to move home. People still need maintenance work. People still need to conduct business. But we will not put profit before wellbeing. To our clients and customers, new and old, we thank you all for your continued support and understanding during these unprecedented times.
