Whirlpool made another recall announcement this week regarding washing machines, heating door mechanisms and the potential fire risk. You can check whether your appliance manufactured under the Hotpoint and Indesit brands between 2014 and 2018 is affected here or call Whirlpool helpline 0800 316 1442.
Jeff Noel, Vice President at Whirlpool online statement says “While we work to provide you with a replacement or repair, to avoid all risk associated with the use of your washing machine, you should unplug it and stop using it. If you do continue to use your appliance, you should only use cold water cycles of 20 degrees celsius or lower. This is because the issue is associated with the washing machine’s heating element being activated during washing cycles above 20 degrees”.
This round of recalls follows similar recalls for certain tumble dryers models manufactured between 2004-2015, gas cookers in 2013, dishwashers 2005-2015 and washing machines again between 2007 and 2009. For a full recall list read here.
