The Lettings industry is constantly evolving, striving to raise standards and consumer awareness, and wheedle out rogue landlords and agents. We touched on some of the most recent regulation changes in our Industry Changes article in May. There are more changes on the horizon. Visit the governments website to have your say on their proposal to abolish Section 21 landlord possession notices. The deadline is 12 October.
All agents are required to be a member of a redress scheme (ours is The Property Ombudsman). The government has proposed that all property agents are regulated by an independent body with mandatory qualifications and a code of practice. The working group advising on this include RICS, ARLA Propertymark and National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) which Alexandre Boyes are already members. We work within all their codes of practice and fully back the government’s proposal as we believe in their chief aim to raise the bar! Our team hold various qualifications between them and continue their training each year.
Whatever which way the regulations change it is unlikely to be introduced until 2020 but we will keep you posted.
