Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020 came into force 1 June 2020. Generally, these regulations require private residential landlords to have the electrical installations in their properties inspected and tested by a person who is qualified and competent, at least every 5 years, and provide a copy of the report to their tenants. The regulations form part of the Government’s wider work to improve safety in all private residential premises.
These regulations have been in the pipeline for a few months now and AB Landlords have already been working with our team to ensure that they comply for all new tenancies from 1 July 2020. The regulations will eventually apply to existing tenancies from 1 April 2021.
