Today is all about our NHS, Health Care workers, key workers and all those on the front line during this pandemic. Tonight is the second planned #ClapForCarers at 8pm! The AB Team will be out clapping for them all.
Actor Damian Lewis and his wife, have set up a crowd funded Feed the NHS campaign https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/feednhs – their aim is to raise £1,000,000 to help feed NHS workers one hot healthy meal each day. So far they have raised over 600K since the launch !
The Just Giving page says “Some of our heroes are already working 20 hour shifts and these hours will only get longer as the crisis worsens. With cafes and eateries all shut there is a real need to get healthy hot food to the hospitals. We are spearheading a campaign with LEON to get 6,000 meals a day into London hospitals for critical care staff and then hopefully across the nation to feed the NHS. The aim is that everyone will get one hot meal a day. We are starting this initiative in partnership with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and UCLH Healthcare NHS Trust and hope others will be inspired to roll it out across the nation. This is a not for profit movement to deliver food to our heroic workers and already Wasabi, Tortilla, Peach Pubs, Rosa’s Thai, Hop, Pizza Pilgrims, Franco Manca, Farmer J, Tossed, Haché, Abokado, Dishoom and Nusa Kitchen have joined”.

Our local children no doubt have been busy drawing rainbows for the NHS and displaying them in their windows. There is a facebook page set up which sadly appears to be fake….read the BBC report here. Keep drawing though! It will put a smile on someone’s face. The NHS are also asking you to share them on line using the tag #RainbowsForNightingale
